7.6 km of drill and blast under the at depths of up to 960m, ventilation and access adits, two ventilation buildings and a 90m deep ventilation shaft. Insitu concrete linings, passenger walkways for the main tunnels. Andreas Tauschinger was Leighton Asia’s Tunnel Operations Manager responsible for this complex tunnelling project through highly variable ground conditions.
The tunnel was successfully completed in early 2020 to the full satisfaction of the client MTRC.
