The Gold Line (GoL) consists of 11 underground stations with an overall length of 11km (twin tunnels) using EPB TBM’s running through the centre of Doha to the Khalifa Stadium in the west of the city. The construction and subsequent commissioning of this metro line took place within 54 months from contract signature, which was a huge challenge.
Andreas Tauschinger was the Joint Venture’s designated Project Director during the project startup and until the main construction and tunnelling works were well underway. The required 6 TBM’s were all launched within the first 15 months of the start of the project, a feat that has not been repeated anywhere in the world since.
